Cooling Tower Isolation

Cooling towers can add considerable fouling materials to the water running through them.  First, airborne contaminants such as dirt, seeds, and pollen can get in the water, increasing the particulate content.  Second, the evaporation function of cooling towers acts to concentrate whatever minerals may already be present in the water.  For this reason it is important to isolate the cooling tower water from equipment that is easily damaged by such contamination.

GEA's gasketed plate heat exchangers provide an ideal solution to this challenge.

  • Their high efficiency minimizes the cooling loss from this added loop.
  • High turbulence in the plate gaps delivers the best possible resistance to fouling over time.
  • Our tools-free gasket installation makes for easy maintenance, minimizing down-time.

Our NT Series provides an excellent solution, handling a flow range all the way up to 20,000 gallons per minute (4500 m³/hour).

  • Optiwave™ plate design maximizes the use of the heat transfer surface area, resulting in fewer plates and better fouling resistance.
  • PosLoc™ plate lead-ins help the plate pack to self-align when closing up.
  • Ecoloc™ gasket attachment is quick and easy.
